The Summit League named South Dakota State’s Jordan Dykstra its player of the week after the senior led the Jackrabbits to a pair of league road wins over the weekend. The Rock Valley, Iowa native garnered his second career and season honor, after leading the Jackrabbits to road victories at Denver and at South Dakota.

“We’re proud of what Jordan did this week, particularly on the road, he made some huge plays for us in Denver to help us win that basketball game, and what he did at South Dakota in terms of his double-double, the 11 rebounds and getting to the free throw line so much was a big factor in us winning that game,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “It’s one thing to get player of the week when you’re playing at home, but to do it on the road is even more important.”

At Denver, Dykstra keyed the Jackrabbits comeback by scoring eight points in the final 17 seconds to lift his team from down 71-66 to a 74-73 victory. He hit a three-pointer at 0:17 to draw within two, then knocked down the go-ahead triple three seconds later before converting a pair of free throws to extend the lead to three with 3 seconds on the clock. Dykstra scored all 14 of SDSU’s points over the final 2:51 and all of his scoring (18 points) came in the second half.

Two days later, Dykstra recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in a victory at South Dakota that moved SDSU past its rival in the league standings. Dykstra’s weekly numbers include a .900 free throw percentage on 18 of 20 shooting from the line.
