South Dakota’s women’s golf team sits in third place and South Dakota State is fourth following round one of the Women’s Summit League Championships hosted by Arborlinks Golf Course in Nebraska City.
Rounds two and three are Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
USD junior Brenna Lervick a carded 1-over par 73 Monday and is in second place. She recorded two birdies against three bogeys and is four strokes back of Denver’s Jessica Carty. Carty tallied four birdies on the back nine en route to a first round score of 69.
Coyote freshman Jennifer Vincent currently sits in fourth place at 3-over par. Freshman Lexi Petersen (t-30th), junior Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski (t-34th) and senior Victoria Grasso (t-43rd) also competed for South Dakota.
The Jackrabbits shot a 318 on the par-72, 6,179-yard course. SDSU trails leader Denver, ranked 69th by Golfstat and 75th by Golfweek, by 23 shots.
Junior Hallie Getz (Pierre) is tied for seventh, after shooting a five-over par 77 with a birdie on the 12th and 18th holes. She was two over on the front nine and three over on the back nine.
Senior Sydney MacDonald (Calgary, Alberta) is tied for 10th after shooting a six-over par 78. She was four over on the front and two over on the back nine while collecting a bird on the 12th hole.
Junior Megan Mingo (Yankton) is tied for 21st (80), senior Brianna Janu (Glenwood, Minn.) tied for 28th (83) and sophomore Natcha Srimaneerungroj (Bangkok, Thailand) is tied for 37th (86).
Denver leads the championships at 7-over par (295). Oral Roberts is 20 strokes back in second place. Coyotes round out the top three at 29-over with 317 strokes.
