Nebraskans and South Dakotans like ethanol. That’s the result from a survey among 900 people living in both states. The survey was coordinated by Summit Carbon Solutions, the company that is proposing to install a pipeline to help sequester carbon dioxide from ethanol plants to an underground storage facility at North Dakota. Steve Harris with Summit says the survey results were overwhelming.
Harris says Summit Carbon Solutions has contracted with six different Nebraska ethanol plants to transport the carbon by the pipeline. He says similar results were noted from the South Dakota survey.
Harris says half the corn grown in the U-S is devoted to ethanol, and he says Summit is working with 32 ethanol plants to help remove carbon.
