The Executive Board of the South Dakota Legislature met in Pierre yesterday to finalize plans for their summer study committees.
Senator Jim White of Huron will Chair the committee on combating drug abuse among young people.
He says meth abuse appears to be rising in the state….

White says he is concerned about the downward drift in kids using drugs….

Senator David Omdahl of Sioux Falls asked that marijuana use and abuse be part of the study….

That suggestion was not accepted by board members.

Other committees were also approved, with Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton chairing the committee studying the payment system for Medicaid providers, and Representative Steve Westra of Sioux Falls chairing the committee looking at the statewide limit on nursing home beds.
