September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness month.

Renee Faber with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services says a federal grant is helping them work to prevent youth suicides.

Faber says in 2014 suicide was the leading cause of death for Nebraska children age 10 to 14.

Faber says a new program called Question, Persuade, and Refer teaches the warning signs of suicide and how to seek help.

Faber says the Q-P-R training is offered across the state.
