Sudden Death Syndrome has been surfacing in soybean fields in Iowa this year despite the drought which is a little alarming according to an Iowa State University Extension Plant Pathologist. Darin Mueller says SDS can cause a lot of damage in soybeans.
He says it’s way past time to treat for SDS so producers should at least scout their fields and prepare to deal with whatever they may have to for the next growing season.
Mueller says if soybean cyst nematode has shown up, that helps SDS and further hurts yields.
Mueller says in severe cases of SDS, the entire soybean plant will die.
