The discovery of two small fish in the lower Missouri River is big news for researchers and wildlife officials all along the river.
The Corps of Engineers says two genetically confirmed larval pallid sturgeon were captured on the river north of St Louis earlier this month.

The pallid sturgeon is an endangered species native to the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. The federal government and a number of states have partnered to restore the habitat needed for native populations.
