A study released by the Corn Refiners Association shows the United States is falling behind on trade and export competitiveness. John Bode is President and CEO of the group and says the U.S. needs to regain lost ground to international competitors.

He says specifically the study points out China and the European Union have made major gains verses the U.S. on trade agreements around the globe.

Bode says USMCA is a great trade deal but was a renegotiation that did not make significant gains for U.S. agriculture. He says the Biden Administration needs to get the U.S. back into the CPTPP and Bode is also concerned about the recent RCEP agreement struck by 15 nations in the Asian-Pacific Region.

Bode says the other problem is Trade Promotion Authority has run out which limits President Biden from striking new agreements or working on lowering tariffs with China and other trading partners.
