Wednesday, the Center for Rural Affairs released a study that shows more rural people than urban are participating in SNAP, the supplemental nutrition assistance program. Center’s Jon Bailey says the study breaks down misconceptions about the food stamp program and who’s benefitting from it.
Bailey says the percentage of Rural SNAP recipients has grown over the past few years.
He says it’s important that federal policy makers take their study into account when determining what to do about future SNAP benefits.
Bailey says it’s good that both the Senate and House Ag Committees have oversight over SNAP.
