A recent University of Tennessee study calls for dismantling of the Renewable Fuel Standard and claims corn based ethanol hurts the development of advanced biofuels. American Coalition for Ethanol Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says the study is misleading, inaccurate and paid for by a pro-fossil fuel entity. He says it was commissioned by the American Council for Capital formation.
He says even the EPA shows in their research and data that corn based ethanol is cleaner and less harmful to carbon emissions than gasoline.
Jennings expects more attacks of this kind as EPA gets closer to making their decision on R-F-S volume levels.
Jennings is hoping the EPA will eventually issue an RFS rule that restores the integrity of the program and moves beyond the E10 blend wall issue.
