James Halverson started work this week as the new Executive Director of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association. He says he’s getting his feet wet meeting with producers and getting things prepared for their upcoming state convention.

He says he’s also working to get prepared for the next State Legislative session in January and is hoping to see progress on getting country of origin labeling passed and implemented.

Halverson whose past experience has been working with FFA students also wants to get more younger members involved in the Stockgrowers Association.

Halverson was chosen from a group of 15 applicants for the position.
