The non meandered waters debate is a concern for South Dakota Stockgrowers members. Executive Director Silvia Christen says as the legislative session rolls along there are a pair of measures left lawmakers are considering regarding that issue. She says her group supports both of those bills.
Rhoden’s bill, HB 1081 just passed out of the Senate Ag and Natural Resources committee. Christen says the present non meandered waters law is working.
She says what her group wants is for all uncertainty regarding non meandered waters to be ironed out which either HB 1081 or the Governor’s measure would provide.
Christen says the main priority is that legislators need to make sure private property rights of landowners are protected.
