Cattle producers across the country from different groups shared their testimony with Senate Ag Committee members this week about the depressed state of their economy and recent low cattle prices. South Dakota Stockgrowers President Gary Deering also thanked South Dakota Senator John Thune for his support of Country of Origin Labeling and opposing its repeal.

Deering says however they didn’t get any indication from Senator Thune about whether he’d support including COOL in the USMCA trade agreement.

He says COOL needs to be reinstated because both producers and consumers need to have it in place to know what their getting.

Stockgrowers members however are pleased that Senator Thune and the Ag Committee is taking their concerns seriously.
