Earlier this month an internal memo released from the incoming Trump administration indicated the President was possibly willing to reinstate country of origin labeling. Now a Trump Ag Advisory Committee spokesman said COOL is “dead as a doornail” and won’t come back. South Dakota Stock Grower’s Association Executive Director Silvia Christen says they’re trying to figure out where the President Elect stands on the matter.
She says COOL needs to be reinstated especially given the recent downturn in cattle prices.
Christen says her group wants more details on where the new President stands not only on COOL but also on trade in general.
Leaked portions of Trump’s plan for his first 100 days in office highlighted a provision to potentially include COOL in a renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
