South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson has introduced the PRICE Act. The measure will increase transparency in the cattle markets, improve risk management and support new and expanding meat processors. South Dakota Stock Grower’s Association President Scott Edoff says having better transparency is what cattle producers need.

He says the PRICE Act is a great start in helping cattle producers who have seen a large discrepancy between what they get for their animals and what the packers are getting.

Johnson’s measure calls for updating the Packers and Stockyards Act to create a cattle contract library. Edoff says that also would be a great help for cattle producers.

Johnson says his PRICE ACT bill is the answer to many of the issues ranchers have been facing for years. He says producers want a fair market and fair prices and that’s what this bill delivers.
