Members and leaders of the South Dakota Stock Grower’s Association are preparing for the start of the 2017 South Dakota Legislative session. Executive Director Silvia Christen says it isn’t that far away, starting the second week of January. She says they have several issues they’ll bring forward including concern for the economy and property taxes.

She says they’ll bring forward legislative concerns regarding property rights and hunting issues.

Christen says her group will need to educate several new members of the South Dakota legislature to bring them up to speed on their concerns.

She says they’ll also have to work with new legislative leaders but see that as a positive as many of them have ag experience or served on ag committees in the past.
