A bill that would secure federal funds to help improve state election security in Minnesota is going to a conference committee to be hashed out by lawmakers. Secretary of State Steve Simon says he’s frustrated by the delay and says Senate Republicans have not explained why they won’t approve the full funding amount…

The Minnesota Senate passed a bill that would secure $1.5 million–or a portion of the $6.6 million in funding the state is eligible for. The House rejected the measure. Republicans argue their partial allotment is an important “first step” in the process of eventually approving the full funding.
