Hurricane Laura hit West of the major corn and soybean export ports on the Lower Mississippi River. That’s according to Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek. He says because of where it landed, port operations for export of those commodities stayed pretty much intact.
He says where the Hurricane ended up effected ports where wheat is shipped out of.
Steenhoek says they are monitoring the ports to see what specific effects there are from the storm.
Steenhoek says the five port regions that remained operational for corn and soybean shipments included the Pork of Baton Rouge, the Port of South Louisiana, the Port of New Orleans, the Port of St. Bernard and the Port of Plaquemines along the lower Mississippi River.
