Senators Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Mike Braun of Indiana have introduced the Rebuilding Stronger Infrastructure Act legislation. The measure is designed to help states rebuild stronger and more resilient roads, highways and bridges. Soy Transportation Coalition Board Director Todd Hanten of South Dakota is pleased that bill has been put in the hopper. He says it’s good to see support from both sides of the aisle for the measure.

He says bridge deterioration has been a big issue in South Dakota and most states in the Northern Plains and getting this bill approved will help address that problem.

Hanten says having roads, bridges and highways kept up is key for farmers and ranchers economic viability and being able to get their commodities out to export markets.

Baldwin and Braun’s bill provides federal funding to states to rebuild roads, and bridges damaged by natural disasters.
