Last Tuesday, the U. S. Supreme Court issued a stay of the Clean Power Plan that had been issued by the Environmental Protection Agency. The plan would have sharply reduced carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel power plants.
South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says they believe the EPA was out of bounds in those rules…..

Nelson says power companies would have had to make a lot of expensive changes very quickly….

Nelson says it is possible the Supreme Court could uphold some or all of the rules…..

The state Department of Environment and Natural Resources had scheduled a meeting on those clean air rules next week in Milbank. That meeting has now been canceled.
