Fifteen states led by New York and the District of Colombia have filed a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s SNAP or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program rule. Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman says his group supports the litigation and wants to see the rule changed.

The rule calls for stricter work requirements for those receiving SNAP benefits. Lehman says they want the court to issue a ruling forcing the USDA to redo the regulation.

Lehman says most of those who’ve been getting SNAP assistance are unable to work and are in dire economic circumstances.

Also backing the litigation are several House members including Marcia Fudge, Chair of the Ag Subcommittee on Nutrition.
