Nebraska State Senators have advanced a new $9.7 billion budget that includes more money for property tax credits and college scholarships. State Senator Tom Brandt, member of the Agriculture Committee says lawmakers have more money to work with this year with a good part of that likely going to agriculture.

He says two of the bills he’s sponsoring will receive funding including herd share and a school funding measure.

Brandt says they’re also making progress with more property tax relief and moving in the right direction with three measures addressing that.

Brandt says it’s been a positive legislative session for agriculture with movement on these budget items as well as passage of a brand bill.
