South Dakota Providing Tax Incentives to Counties for Livestock Development

South Dakota Providing Tax Incentives to Counties for Livestock Development

The State of South Dakota is providing tax incentives or rebates to counties to promote livestock development. South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Kim Vanneman says in those counties that are zoned for livestock this should be an effective program.

She says the tax rebate is a win-win since counties continue to be strapped for resources and certainly have a need for dollars to support infrastructure maintenance and repair and even new projects.

Even though ag development has been moved from the Department of Agriculture to the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Vanneman says their experts are there to provide technical and other assistance.

She says livestock development is one of the best ways available to add value to the state’s grains and commodities.
