State of SD Ends Budget Year in the Black

The State of South Dakota ended the budget year with a surplus of just under eight million dollars. Governor Dennis Daugaard says state agencies spent fifteen point six million dollars less than budgeted to keep the state in the black.
Senator Larry Tideman of Brookings, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, says it was a tough budget process….

Tideman says they knew it would going to be close at the end…..

Tideman says their committee will meet next week, and get more details…..

The state has about one hundred sixty-five million dollars in reserves.
