State of SD Agrees to Sell MRC Rail Line

The South Dakota State Railroad Board voted to accept a proposal from WATCO Companies to buy the MRC rail line from Mitchell west.

Rick Webb, C.E.O. of WATCO says they see great opportunities on the MRC line….

Webb says the current operator, Dakota Southern, will be a minority partner…..

Webb says they can move forward pretty quickly…..

WATCO will pay thirteen million dollars for the line, with five million up front and the balance over five years. The MRC was part of the rail line the state bought when the Milwaukee Road filed for bankruptcy in 1980.
