State of Nebraska Proposes Massive Water Projects

The State of Nebraska is proposing a five hundred million dollar plan to build canals and reservoirs to use water flowing into the state in the South Platte River.
Governor Pete Ricketts says they will invoke the terms of a 1923 water use agreement with Colorado….

Colorado is pushing plans for up to three hundred projects using most of that water allocated to Nebraska.
Ricketts says they need to get ahead of those plans….

Attorney General Doug Peterson says they are ready to defend the 1923 water compact….

The Governor and other state leaders announced the water project as part of seven hundred million dollars in development spending.
