This year’s session of the South Dakota Legislature created the Obligation Recovery Center, which will be a state run collection agency. It has been estimated there could be debts of between thirty to fifty million dollars owed to the state.

The Government Operations and Audit Committee this week got an update on the process.

Jeff Holden, Acting Commissioner of the Bureau of Administration, says they opened up the process earlier this summer…

Holden says they have selected one company that they hope to negotiate with…

 

Holden says they hope to have a contractor in place to begin the collection process by late this year.
