Two hundred thousand.  It’s a number the South Dakota State Fair has been shooting for as an attendance goal for the last two to three years.  The 2014 Fair not only hit that goal but exceeded it…

Officially 210-thousand 465 people took in the five-day event. Fair Manager Jerome Hertel says other areas saw increases as well…

Those numbers included two-thousand 37 campers for a 20-percent increase and over 500 vendors.  Grandstand ticket sales were up 26-percent.  Twenty-two thousand 550 tickets were sold to grandstand events during the State Fair this year.  Saturday August 30th was a great day for the State Fair.  It was the largest attended day with almost 50-thousand people showing up and Gold Star Amusements set a company record for most carnival rides sales in a single day.  Carnival sales were up 17-percent.  Hertel believes the State Fair can get even bigger…

Planning for the 2015 South Dakota State Fair is already underway.  The dates will be Thursday September third through Monday September seventh.
