State Corrections Director Scott Frakes denies he was pressured by Governor Pete Ricketts to reduce the number of additional staff needed at Nebraska prisons.

A draft report recommended 254 additional workers. The final report submitted by Frakes cut that to 138.

Former state Senator Steve Lathrop, now lawyer for a special legislative committee, pressed Frakes on why he changed the numbers. . .

Lathrop asked Frakes about the decision to cut staff requests…

Frakes has told state lawmakers more staff is needed at state prisons and pay needs to be raised.
