State Board Finds Some SD School Districts Violated Teacher Pay Laws

The South Dakota School Finance Accountability Board has found a number of school districts in violation of state law governing teacher pay. Many got a full waiver because they made a good faith effort to hit the benchmarks, while other districts were ordered to re-open negotiations with their teachers.

The legislature last year increased the state sales tax a half cent to fund teacher pay increases to an average of forty-eight thousand five hundred dollars.
