South Dakota legislators are considering a six percent increase in state aid to education, which would be one of the biggest year to year hike since the formula was devised.

Vermillion School Superintendent Damon Alvey says they have started to look at the impacts to their budget…

Voters in the district approved a twenty-six million dollar bond issue last fall for a new elementary school.

Alvey says they are working toward final plans….

Alvey says they are optimistic they can find contractors when they are ready to break ground this summer….

The plan will replace two aging elementary school buildings with a new one located next to their middle school.
