The 23rd annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive this month had mail carriers dropping off the mail while picking up donations of food from the nation’s mailboxes. Feeding South Dakota set a goal for this year’s drive and Development Associate, Jennifer Stensaas, says they surpassed that goal easily.
The record collected in the Sioux Falls area is 86,000 pounds. Stensaas says the food collected through the drive will make a huge impact on the summer supply.
She says the total state numbers are still being collected, but the Rapid City facility collected well over 20 thousand pounds of food.
