Spring Wheat planting in South Dakota while behind the five year average is going well so far in the state. South Dakota Wheat Commission Executive Director Reid Christopherson says about half of the spring wheat that will be planted has already been seeded.
He says spring wheat has been a popular crop so far this year in South Dakota.
Christopherson says spring wheat has been so popular this year that seed for the crop is now hard to find.
Christopherson says it’s been a better year so far weather wise this year for planting with most of the state not facing an overabundance of moisture like last year. He says the Northeast part of the state continues to be wetter than the rest of South Dakota.
