There were four teams from the Great Plains Athletic Association in action Thursday at the national NAIA men’s basketball tourney in Missouri with two surviving the open round games.
The No. 6 seeded Morningside Mustangs avoided being the second straight Top-10 team to go down on day two of the NAIA DII Men’s Basketball National Championship as they used a big second half to down Tabor (Kan.) 86-79. The win moves the Mustangs into Friday’s second round for the fourth time and first since 2009.
–No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) made quick work of unseeded Milligan (Tenn.) 98-55 in the first round of the 2015 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship.
–Coming from 12-points down in the final 11:26, Southern Oregon rallied to upset No. 10 Midland 73-71 in the first round.
–No. 8 Davenport (Mich.) outlasted Briar Cliff (Iowa) 68-66 in a rugged first round match-up.
