South Dakota legislators are receiving their certified letters asking them to support a special session next month.

Representative Elizabeth May of Kyle wants to hold the session to talk about education funding and common core standards.

Representative Julie Bartling of Gregory says she doesn’t think a special session would be productive at this point…

Bartling says the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education should be allowed to complete its work…

Bartling says she is hearing about the difficulties of finding teachers from the small schools in her district…

The special session is proposed for August 17th. The next Blue Ribbon meeting is set for August 19th.
