House Speaker Paul Ryan met this week with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and shared U.S. dairy market access concerns. U.S. dairy groups say Canada’s new dairy pricing policy is causing economic damage to U.S. producers. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says the meeting is a good first step to trying to find a resolution to the problem.

He’s hoping the meeting sent a signal to Canada’s dairy industry that the U.S won’t stand for such a policy that is harmvul to U.S. producers.

Galen says that type of dumping program is already creating economic problems for the U.S. dairy industry.

Speaker Ryan says he and Prime Minister Trudeau had a productive discussion that included the importance of breaking down trade barriers and improving market access for U.S..dairy farmers.
