Property tax relief might be on the minds of many as the Nebraska legislative session begins, but the Speaker of the Legislature says one issue rises above the rest.
Speaker Jim Scheer of Norfolk says a state budget hampered by lagging state revenue will likely overshadow decisions this year. . .

Scheer says the Unicameral is ready to work with Governor Pete Ricketts.
But, Scheer says the governor must also be ready to work with the legislature. . .

Scheer says he was pleased with how smoothly elections to committee chairs went this year. Two years ago, the process became contentious and its fallout seemed to overshadow the remainder of the session.
