House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says he’s putting together a Republican China Task Force. He says that group will include representatives from 10 congressional committees that will look deeper into the Phase one trade agreement between the U.S. and China. American Soybean Association President Bill Gordon says he likes the idea if it improves communication between the two countries that would lead to more positive trade and follow through on the present agreement.

He says the more in depth look there is at the deal is likely to be beneficial and that’s important because the agreement involves more than just agriculture.

Gordon says given the effects of the pandemic on all segments of U.S. agriculture getting solid trade flowing is becoming even more critical.

McCarthy is hoping his task force will hold China accountable for its actions regarding the phase one deal..
