The massive $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Bill that cleared the House recently after being approved in the Senate has several items contained in it. Part of that is a pilot program put together by the American Soybean Association and South Dakota Soybean Association. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says it promotes the use of soy based concrete and asphalt saliants to lengthen the life of roads and bridges.

He says the asphalt saliant and soy based concrete came from projects put together by his group, the Soy Transportation Coalition. Steenhoek says that prevents cracks in pavement and takes care of things like pot holes.

Steenhoek says these programs brought forward by Senator Rounds and the soybean groups are environmentally sustainable, safe to apply and gives soybean growers a marketing power they can utilize.

Steenhoek says the soybean groups worked with South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds on this part of the legislation
