The Climate Change report released this week by the White House showed no real surprises to Iowa Soybean Association leaders. Director of Environmental Services and Programs Roger Wolf says farmers have been improving the carbon footprint and adjusting to variability’s in the climate for years.
Wolf says his group is working with producer’s investment dollars to help them deal with climate change and further improve their environmental practices.
In their report the White House noted that use of agricultural best management practices can increase CO2 uptake and reduce energy use as well as improve water quality by reducing the loss of sediments and nutrients from farm fields. Wolf says much of that is already being done.
