The American Soybean Association is hailing the analysis of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal done by the Peterson Institute of International Economics. The report showed the U.S. would benefit the most from the agreement. South Dakota Soybean Association President Jerry Schmitz says what’s really significant about the report is that TPP would boost U.S. exports by $ 357 billion annually in 2030.
He says the Peterson report also pointed out that delaying implementation of the TPP would represent a major loss to the overall U.S economy so the deal needs to be ratified as soon as possible.
Schmitz says even though some groups see the Peterson report as flawed, the fact the Institute has done several of these type studies shows their reliance.
Schmitz says Congress should ratify the TPP because that will also positively effect other future trade agreements going forward like the Trans Atlantic deal.
