Soybean Industry Asks President to Support Biodiesel

Soybean Industry Asks President to Support Biodiesel

The National Biodiesel Board and American Soybean Association wrote President Trump last week asking him to provide additional help to the nation’s farmers and ranchers by supporting policies that expand production and use of biodiesel. NBB Director and Nebraska grower Greg Anderson says biodiesel is an important cog in the nation’s economy.

He says both the Administration and Congress must realize the small refiner waivers that have been allowed have not only negatively impacted ethanol demand but also have cost the biodiesel industry 300 million gallons of lost demand.

Anderson says the one bright economic spot for agriculture right now is biodiesel.

The letter to the President also urges him to back the biodiesel industry’s request to Congress to provide long term certainty for the industry with a permanent biodiesel tax incentive.
