More than 80 agricultural groups have filed formal objections to the Environmental Protection Agency’s rule to revoke all tolerances of chlorpyrifos or Lorsban. Iowa Soybean Association President Robb Ewoldt says he’s concerned that growers are losing an important weapon in their arsenal against the ever increasing pressure of weeds.

He doesn’t understand why the EPA didn’t follow sound science when making this rule decision on Lorsban.

Ewoldt says taking care of the land and being environmentally responsible is what he and his fellow producers do and EPA needs to recognize that they’re not going to use any product that damages the environment or public health.

EPA’s rule revokes tolerances on crop uses where many growers have few or no alternatives.
