South Dakota Soybean Association members are gathering in Sioux Falls today and tomorrow for their annual meeting and Ag Outlook Conference. President John Horter who farms near Andover says environmental issues at the state and national issue top their policy priorities going forward.
Horter says it’s been a great year for soybean farmers as far as export markets go with a lot of business going toward China. He says there’s also a lot of excitement about the potential for new deals through the Trans Pacific Partnership with the Pacific Rim countries and the Trans Atlantic deal with Europe.
Horter says their annual business session is today followed by their banquet tonight at which time they’ll announce their soybean yield contest winners. Thursday’s outlook program features Ag Futurist Dr. Jay Lehr speaking along with marketing specialist Arlan Suderman.
