U.S. Soybean Export Council Chairman Jim Miller just returned from a trade trip to Beijing, China. The Belden, Nebraska farmer says while there his group heard concerns from the Chinese over the Section 301 investigation initiated by the U.S. against China over the alleged theft of intellectual property. Miller says his group’s concern is that they may retaliate against U.S. agriculture, namely soybeans.
He says the Chinese want to avoid retaliation if possible.
Miller says they also had an opportunity to meet with Ambassador Terry Branstad while in China and spoke with him about the issue.
Miller says their USSEC team also traveled to New Zealand and Singapore.
