United States Soybean Export Council members traveled to China recently on the President’s trade mission. USSEC Chairman Jim Miller who farms near Belden, Nebraska says they were able to hold a signing ceremony where the Chinese agreed to purchase $5 million more dollars worth of American soybeans.
He says the signing event was a great opportunity to show President Trump how soybean sales have helped balance U.S. trade with our foreign customers.
Miller says while the soybean signing agreement was positive, there are still concerns over possible retaliation by China against the U.S. over the President’s hard line stance on trade that began two months ago.
Miller is hoping they’ll be able to work out that Section 301 issue as it could hit the U.S. soybean industry hard if retaliation occurs.
