Senators Amy Klouchar of Minnesota and Deb Fischer of Nebraska have introduced the Precision Agriculture Loan Act. The measure would create a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide loan financing to farmers and ranchers who want to purchase precision agriculture equipment. Minnesota Soybean Grower’s Association Executive Director Joe Smentek says this is a good bill that will benefit soybean farmers if it’s approved.
He says this type of legislation helps producers be more sustainable while helping them pay for the equipment that’s needed to compete in a global marketplace.
Smentek says by utilizing precision agriculture equipment farmers are able to not only help their bottom line but address climate change concerns.
The Senators believe that Precision Agriculture is a way to allow producers to reduce their environmental footprint, lower costs and improve productivity.
