Soy Transportation Coalition members at their recent annual meeting outlined their priorities for 2021. Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says two main goals include improving infrastructure on the lower Mississippi River as well as working to upgrade rural roads and bridges for ag commodity transportation needs.

He says they want to explore innovative ways to fund rural road and bridge upkeep.

Steenhoek says they also want to push infrastructure development on the Missouri River to provide more routes for ag commodities going out to foreign markets.

Steenhoek says their Coalition also wants to promote the greater utilization of containers particularly along the inland waterway system for soybean exports.
