This week the House passed the $3 billion dollar Water Resources Development Act Legislation providing a boost to ports and dams and the inland waterways. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek is pleased with the approval and says it’s a good step forward for getting waterway upkeep funded in a two year cycle.
He says while his group is pleased House members approved the measure, there’s additional work to be done to advance waterway maintenance and upkeep.
Steenhoek expects a similar measure to get passed soon in the Senate.
Steenhoek says he’s pleased to see Congress moving ahead with waterways legislation given previous WRDA passage in 2014 and 2016 and now House approval for 2018.
