A delegation of South Korean corn buyers are in South Dakota this week. Monday, the group toured an elevator, one of POET’s ethanol plants and visited Mark Gross’s farm near Bridgewater. South Dakota Corn Utilization Council President Ryan Wagner says South Korea’s an important customer of U.S. corn and being able to show them the crop first hand should help for future sales.
Hak Su Kim ,country director for the U.S..Grains Council in South Korea is leading the delegation. He says they like U.S. corn because of its quality and price and their team is impressed with how good the corn looks this year.
Cary SIfferath,Senior Director of Global programs for the U.S. Grains Council says South Korea uses much of the corn it imports for livestock feed. He says they’re very interested in dried distillers grains.
Kim says South Korea has been able to get better quality corn this year from the U.S. then from one of their other suppliers, Brazil.
